Woodford State Park, VT
*** Some sites may be available only from the campground on a first-come-first-served basis.
This mountain park surrounds Adams Reservoir and is known for excellent birding and wildlife watching. The reservoir has two personalities: one a large, open pond, the other a winding waterway passing by beaver lodges and a productive wildlife area which makes for great canoeing and kayaking. The park has a popular campground and provides amble hiking opportunities in the southern Green Mountains.
At 2,400 feet, this 398-acre park has the highest elevation campground of any park in Vermont. Woodford is located on a mountain plateau surrounding Adams Reservoir. The high elevation spruce/fir/birch forest provides an ideal setting for the park. Woodford borders the George Aiken Wilderness Area, which is in the Green Mountain National Forest. There are several lakes and ponds in the surrounding area.
Excellent camping, swimming, boating, fishing, hiking and picnicking. Canoes, kayaks and standup paddleboards are available to rent and nature and interpretive programs are offered.
4 rental cabins, 76 tent/RV sites, 20 lean-tos, restrooms with flush toilets, hot and cold running water and coin-operated showers. Drinking water is available throughout the park. There is a RV sanitary station but there are no hookups.
